I received this email a few days ago from Jillian Christensen. This is a neat picture and part of Ecorse History.
I recently inherited a large framed photograph of my great-great-grand father Casper Jiles (C.J.) Brinkman and some other men. My Grandmother kept this picture in her house in Grosse Ile until her passing last year. She always told me stories of him but I never really knew who all the young men were. At the bottom of the frame there is a brass plate that said, "Western Yacht Club." After doing a bit of research, I came across your book/website. In there, I was able to find the following passage:
"In 1909, a group of 16 Ecorse bachelors organized the Western Yacht Club and in time it was housed in a building opposite LeBlanc Street in Ecorse. Fred Gies, a carpenter, Captain C.J. Brinkman, and Roy Buster O'Brien were the leading spirits in the club, aided by Billy Bass and Ed Horn. In 1939, the founders of the Western Yacht Club held a reunion and only six were still bachelors."

Thank you so much for providing that information! I have attached a photo of the one in question, CJ is in front bottom. Please excuse the terrible quality. Should you ever have any inclination to add it to the website, I'd be honored.
Regards,
Jillian Christensen
